jescareno rated 24 months ago- WWI always seemed so distant even though it occured at the turn of the century...seeing it in color makes it seem more realistic and life-like.

MSTK rated 24 months ago- I always thought of WWI as almost ethereal, being from so long ago. But now I look at color pictures, and it's all way too real...all of the fighting, the deaths, the terrible conditions...i see them in color and it's as if it were happening today.

sunshadowpoet rated 24 months ago- Thanks to technology, a not-necessarily completely unexpected but surprising resurfaced find is shown to us all (since in those years, the possibility of color photographs was there, just a time-and-place situation). Considering the psychological effects of color (not to be referenced on a number of sites that pseudo-explain this notion), one wonders how many people in France (French photographers, it seems to follow) got a chance to see these and what effect this had (since much of the rest of the world has obviously not seen these).

hotseat911 rated 24 months ago- World War I Color Photos Great history site.

OrEnn rated 25 months ago- Now I have to colour all my fantasies about pre-1950 happenings.. the world wasn't grey at all! I wonder what colours Woodrow Wilson liked to decorate with...

gpc rated 25 months ago- wwi photos

Janiedoe rated 25 months ago- I have to have a look at these photos again later. I wonder if they were coloured in by hand using pencils.

RobertKS rated 25 months ago- Who knew there were color photographs of WWI?

shoerob rated 25 months ago- Very nice photos...
