It's not just for hobbits anymore. The logic of green roofs is becoming more apparent. We can minimize our bills while maximizing the beauty of the urban landscape. And every day it's becoming a little easier to live in a house that just happens to have plants growing on it. Vegetated roofs, or green roofs have a layer of living plants on top of the structure and the waterproofing elements. There are really two types of green roofs, intensive and extensive. o-lilly-o rated 11 months ago- I don't know if I'd care to have grass on my roof, but I would LOVE a rooftop garden. It would be really cool if more people did this.

apeckham rated 11 months ago- Grass covered world.

dreamsindigital rated 11 months ago- I'd like grass on my roof, but preferably if my house were underground.

emmarix rated 11 months ago- Good article on green roofs. I've always loved rooftop gardens and it would be great if we make more of them. They can momentarily take you away from the chaos on the ground. Some of my fondest college days were spent with friends on a rooftop. It's good that the article also touched on drainage, cost and commercial viability. That made it more comprehensive. It may not be easy to execute this without expert help though. For one, some groundcover plants can destroy concrete over time. Drainage would also be a big issue. This particular picture just looks so idyllic to me. :) Thanks to http://harebear28.stumbleupon.com/ for the link.
