What a great site. I really like the self sufficient-ish bit - much more realistic for most people! It's got me thinking about getting a window box...

I like this and not so much for the save the planet stance as much as for the save the money stance. It is economically sound in many cases to conserve and do it the 'green' way.

From the page: "Not all of us have the means the space or are perhaps unwilling to give it all up and suffer the highs and lows of going it alone on a smallholding. That is why self sufficient 'ish'.com came along. We provide a growing database of self sufficiency articles. Take some time to read Dave and Andy Hamilton's Philosophy and press release if you want to find out more about us and our version of self sufficiency(homesteading). We hope to make your road to self sufficiency an easier one."

Excellent site for those of us that would like to be self sufficient, but will always be *self sufficient-ish*.

a guide to living lightly on the land even in the city, the site bills itself as "The urban guide to almost self sufficiency" with links to over 150 articles and more coming. as reviewer "The-Lobster" says, "Lots of this stuff is just common sense that seems to have been forgotten or ignored by our overly materialistic society."

Self sufficient 'ish'.com - The urban guide to almost self sufficiency. We have links to over 150 of our self sufficiency articles here on the front page. We have not anything new for a while for various reasons but expect a lot more over the comming weeks.

This site has a lot of useful things that even if you do not plan to use them are interesting to read. There must be at least a bit of hippie in me because I find this site useful. I was born in the early '70s of two hippie parents...maybe it is a gene! Honestly I can see my grandparents having used much of this advice, coming out of the '30s and needing to be as self sufficient as possible to survive so maybe it is not really hippie, just plain practical.
