HyperHistory is an expanding scientific project presenting 3,000 years of world history with an interactive combination of synchronoptic lifelines, timelines, and maps. Great site -- bookmark this one!

This is exactly the kind of experimental resource the web was built for. It looks at history from a different perspective. The fella below me found it hard to navigate, but for a younger student not bound by the format of old, it can be a valuable resource for discovering the order of things, and establshing a timeline visually in the brain.

Lot of data in brief articles, but seemed kind of hard to navigate to the details. I'll have to take some more time with this site.
