The home page is a bit trash-arty but Beksinski's work more than makes up for this. I have shown other works of his some time ago, but still think he is just not known enough. Technically he is an excellent painter both where the marks he made and his use of colour are concerned. But the vision is certainly very dark - his was a troubled soul and there is no way of hiding this. That said, the funny side of this painting is that it bears a strange resemblance to something out of "Alien". But then, so does some of the work of Italian painter, Burri, which I will search out and show.
This is a Crucifixion - the perfect theme for this artist, for it is as troubling as the painter himself. Those interested in Beksinski's work should visit the Dmochowski Gallery web page where there is a revealing interview with him.
Denise-R rated 31 months ago- This is some of the best art i've ever seen on the internet. check it out. (flash)
Thanks for the link, Thamus.
racbb1 rated 31 months ago- Zdzisaw Beksiski is one of my favorite surrealists. The scenes and portraits he paints are so phantasmagoric as to create worlds of their own, macabre and ghostly in their design. This website features a great representation of his genius, the music perfectly chosen to accompany his art.

- GREAT CORELATION BETWEEN PAINTINGS AND MUSIC... TOO GOOD COLLECTION
rosebud rated 31 months ago- I'm giving this a thumbs-down because the site wants to download things without asking me, which I don't appreciate.
Aside from that, it looks potentially promising... lovely graphics on the main page, though the art on display now doesn't do it for me.
7Horns7Eyes rated 31 months ago- Awesome site, and the interface is cool too.
kameleon93 rated 31 months ago- this whole atmosphere of the website and the design and images swept me off my feat
rafcop1976 rated 31 months ago- Led to this site by thamus , check his review, I could not express it any better.
borderline rated 32 months ago- I usually skip right past anything that bears the ubiquitous "blondie blahblah" imprimateur, but this site is actually quite a creepily atmospheric place. The dirgey kind of music and subdued colours enhance the clever site design, and the interactivity is very pleasing. I thought the sketches in particular, were a stand-out.
Thamus rated 31 months ago- Eerie, Gothic and captivating, and riding a delicate wave of quietly sinister New Age music, this site is a fine example of how imaginative the best web design is becoming. The voices and landscapes of last night's shadowy dream return to haunt you, filtered through a shimmering gauze that divides the living from the dead. The art is stunningly disturbing. Here's some trivia on the artist, with thanks to Wikipedia:
Beksinski's art was gloomy and grim, though he himself was a pleasant, shy person who enjoyed conversation.
He never gave titles to his works.
He listened to classical music while painting and abhorred silence.
His son was a great fan of the band The Legendary Pink Dots. After his son's suicide the bands albums' Polish editions and reissues used Beksinki's digital art as covers, dedicated to the memory of Tomasz Beksinski.
He is the only modern Polish artist to have had an exhibition in the Osaka Museum of Art in Japan.
He himself shunned art, almost never visiting museums or exhibitions.
