Crazy internet dating gone terribly wrong. At least none of *my* experiences with internet dating have been this bad.

God I love Buffalo. From the uni-bomber, to OJ, to this guy, this city breeds demented assholes. Goddamn, I love it though, which probably means that I'm demented too...

A little poetic if you think about the sleaziness of lying only to be lied to the whole time.

This is so, so, sad.....I would never be able to live with myself by lying to someone about who I really am. Folks, be honest with each other. If you're a fat ugly fuck, then admit it. If you don't like to admit it, then do something to change it

Is the need to impress really that powerful? Of course it is - that's why both "Tommy" and "Jessi" faked their entire identities, and that's why they both fell for each other's lies. It's why people wear lipstick, buy the latest fashions, pay for plastic surgery, shave, and exercise. As much as we wax poetic about how we want a mate who is sensitive, caring, funny, honest, intelligent, and interesting, it's all bullshit. We still want pin-up models, and personality has never mattered less.

You'd think that the fact that so many people are meeting and dating online would minimize the impact of appearance. Confined to a cyberspace that reduces us all to mere words, we should have a better opportunity than ever to ignore the mere cosmetic aspects and focus exclusively on the personality traits we want to find. But instead, a whole new version of appearance-first mentality comes into play, because we, in addition to being full of shit about wanting someone who is funny, intelligent, honest, and so forth, we're also perfectly willing to lie about ourselves in addition to lying to ourselves.

What pathetic creatures we are. Of all the animal kingdom, we have the most complex and pointless, the most unnecessarily twisted and dishonest, the most self-defeating and most tortuously ill-advised mating rituals. Every other animal chooses mates based on appearance, and usually appearance alone. We do too, of course, but we're so completely enamored of our own humanity that we refuse to admit it, even though we act on it every single time we open our eyes, thus missing all the best opportunities to attain those goals to which we pay lip service only.

Oh, and Lisajojo's got a great point. These young hot-bodies are usually possessed of personalities as flat as their stomachs, devoid of skill in the sexual arts, and mind-numbingly stupid. Older women are more often past all that, and more in tune with their bodies - unfortunately, they're also far more in tune with the size of a bank account. But still, the point remains.

What a sordid, fucked up world we live in.

From the page: "...no one left in the world, save Ashton Kutcher and The Girls Next Door, wants to have sex with people over 45..." Very interesting article about online dating, but obviously, written by a young thing who hasn't figured out what Ashton, and many, many other young men already know... women in their 40's can be much better lovers than the 20-year-old hot bodies. The ability to really connect the body, mind, and spirit is what elevates mediocre sex to the ethereal, and this only comes with age. Having sex without that connection is like masturbating; nice, but 5 minutes later we have forgotten it. Making love - really making love - is an experience that becomes etched into your cells, leaving your head spinning and your heart thumping wildly - taking you to another dimension that is not of this world. And afterwards, you are changed forever. lisajojo
