Wespennest rated 8 months ago- Goddammit, fuck Alex Jones and all of the scumfucks who keep on latching on to the hard work of honest activists. Every time you post one of these mind-fuckingly stupid video collages, it denigrates actual instances of police abuse and harassment. PROTIP: The police DO NOT FUCKING CARE about you or your stupid presidential candidate's fanclub-- their job is to crack the skulls of everyone who gets in their way. You want to talk about "police oppression?" Try bringing your anti-union ron paul bullshit to the Longshore union strikers who were shot by the LAPD. Oh, wait, THEY weren't screaming about how the Jews did 9/11, so they don't matter.

tisstupid rated 8 months ago- Updated: If you have to resort to propaganda, selectively editing videos, and pure conjecture; you will never convince a majority of thinking people your allegations are true. Post the entire unedited police video if the facts truly support your argument.
This video shows protesters being pepper sprayed and pushed with batons by police when they refuse to leave an area.
This clip's presentation is absolutely horrible. The narrator's voice is grating, and sounds as if she swallowed a bottle of muscle relaxers before laying down the audio. The video takes events out of context and states conjecture without factual evidence. It also uses propaganda techniques to sway opinion by inter-dispersing clips of Nazi Germany with clips of 2002 Portland, OR.
The video begins by showing hand-held police footage of a young man police singled out as being a "leader." The narrator assumes it is because he is a leader of a protest movement. It is just as likely that the man was the leader of a group of people who committed a crime and that was why he was singled out. There is no proof that he was a victim due to his political dissent.
The video then shows more police footage with officers zooming in on people in the crowds who are wearing masks. Again, the narrator assumes they are being recorded so that their faces can be associated with their political positions. Yet, it is more likely that in the heightened state of security that we all live in, someone might be hiding their identity at a rally because they intend to commit a crime. Police zoom in on tattoos and other identifiable characteristics so that if a crime is committed at the rally, and a witness describes what the person was wearing, the tapes can be used as evidence.
If the narrator was really that worried about having her identity associated with her political beliefs then she wouldn't have pointed out her own image on one of the police tapes. She also wouldn't have used her own ridiculously droning voice to narrate this video. We all live safe and secure in our rights as guaranteed by the constitution. You will not be arrested for your political views.
The video ends by showing select portions of police footage of officers pushing a resistant crowd away from an area by using pepper spray, batons, and rubber bullets. The video shows a lead officer describing how the crowd will first be told to leave, and if they resist, how officers will use batons and pepper spray to push them back. These statements are made to notify the rest of the officers as to what the Rules of Engagement are for the event so that all the officers will be able to work together to accomplish that goal.
Conveniently, it appears that key footage connecting those statements to the actual action is missing. The video also shows clips of news reports stating that the police used force in response to a bottle being thrown, and then shows select portions of the police footage as if it were proof no bottle was thrown. Based solely on the video, we do not know what happened prior to the officers statements to cause the police to want to move the crowd. We also are unable to see the full news reports to find out what contextual information exists to collaborate the reporters assertions.
Fortunately I was able to find a news report from the day of the incident: Police Shoot Pepper Spray At Portland Protestors- Updated: If you have to resort to propaganda, selectively editing videos, and pure conjecture; you will never convince a majority of thinking people your allegations are true. Post the entire unedited police video if the facts truly support your argument.

- Choose your company wisely. But I object to the argument that America is now Nazi Germany. It's just the natural consequence of Godwin's Law.

Kmuzu rated 8 months ago- The brown shirts are back. And the media are filthy whores. There will be those who will think this kind of authoritative action is necessary. Those are the same ones who were abused by their fathers and still need a strong daddy figure in their life.

whitelies rated 8 months ago- I agree with Wolf Avenger. I don't see how it helps anyone for individuals on any side of a story to make references to Nazis. Its probably more efficient to use a picture of red devil that way we can all be sure that you mean to say they are baaaad baaaad people. What is Hitler but the boogeyman for the left? No different than the use of Stalin. And simply calling America a police state doesn't really help address the complexity of the situation. Of course cops act like assholes; they are placed in a position where it is easy and almost natural to behave like assholes. Stanford prison experiment, anyone? Just like the vaaaast majority of Americans are consumerist zombies. Each group operates in a culture where it would be more surprising if they did give a shit about the kids getting pepper sprayed in front of them.

nicktastic rated 8 months ago- Good. I would use tactics like this if I was outnumbered with 20 to 1 odds. Do you really think telling people "Hey can you quiet it down a bit" would work? No, but give em some pepper spray to help them on their way seems like a fine idea. Call me crazy but I like the fact that cops use force when they need to. Don't surround yourself with idiots dressed like banditos in bandanas and I think that your odds for a spraying will be lessened by a little bit. By the way, when did flipping off a cop and saying "Fuck you pig, I believe in democracy, I'm not scared" seem peaceful. If everyone was chanting and blowing bubbles and the cops mowed down people with sticks I think we could call foul. But not in this case. Hippies.

PvtPain66k rated 8 months ago- Dissent.

Wolf-Avenger rated 8 months ago- If you ignore the Nazi footage, then its worth watching.
