Be a Bright!

Many of these Brights (the Chinese would pronounce them Blights) claim to be free of superstitions. In reality, nobody is free of superstitions. My atheist belief is your superstition. Your religious belief is my superstition.

The idea I agree with, however the group's presentation seems more than a little arrogant naming themselves BRIGHT....Like some kind of creepy anti-cult cult

The Brights represent a group of people who have a naturalistic worldview that is free of supernatural and mystical elements, which is insufficiently expressed within most cultures, even politically/socially repressed. To be a Bright is to participate in a movement to address the situation. It has among its members some of my favorite authors, including Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett and Steven Pinker. For those of us who have trouble believing in divine beings incarnating in human form that like to cast demons into pigs and curse fig trees this is like a breath of fresh air.

I'm an atheist, but this looks like a club for self-satisfied losers. Like MENSA ;)
