- If Powell speaks the truth ... who will listen. The problem may be that most people prefer to believe think-tank propaganda. Maybe this is because it plays up their sense of importance in the world. Americans may prefer to believe that they are uniquely talented, heroic and wise, etc. It's this national egoism that the Bush crowd keep stroking. The entire neocon project is so intellectually absurd and counterfactual that it takes an almost heroic amount of delusion to believe it. Blumenthal has written another fine article ... but pinning hope on Powell seems a bit desperate, though I hope I am wrong. -- vincent@
