Thumbs up Reviews of this website

While a variety are quite wrong, someone said no one claiming them to be wrong cited a source. You'll find "Rule of Thumb" easily verifiable as false with only a small cursory search as it's a common misconception. It either comes from sewing or woodworking in which the artisan used a thumb as a unit of measure. Many of the rest are easy to verify wrong too, do your own research before taking folklore etymology for the truth. Sadly, people too frequently want colorful stories to explain the mundane.

Catchy phrases and good graphics to depict them. This gentleman is "stumped".

From the page: "Cut to the chase" - Remember going to watch those old black and white silent films? Sure you do! Well, you've probably heard of them, anyway. In the black and white silent film movie error, in the 1920s, a chase scene was often the exciting part of the film." And that's changed how???

Pretty cool even if they're BS or whatever.

Wow, not sure what to write for a review after reading what is already here. I was going to say something lame like 'cool history of common expressions' but...

Some of the folks here seem pretty adamant about the fact that they think this page is wrong.

I'd like to point out that NONE OF THESE DESCENTING/DOWN VOTING LOSERS PROVIDED A SINGLE SOURCE TO BACK UP THERE CLAIM

I remember reading the origins of some of these phrases, and the ones on this page seem inaccurate. Research! This shit is just as bad as the email I get from "friends" every week that I inevitably debunk at Snopes.com.

Most of these are folk etymologies. Check out world wide words for more accuracy.
