chummers rated 5 months ago- # The Lorax - criminalizes the logging industry!

mzupan239 rated 5 months ago- It is interesting to see which books over the years and from country have been banned and why. I looks like I am going to have to do a lot more reading. Who knows what will be banned next.

connectedgeeknet rated 5 months ago- The Forbidden Library: Banned and Challenged Books ;)

skye76 rated 6 months ago- It's funny, some of these books actually having been banned.

Pompom267 rated 8 months ago- Sad,and yet at the same time, hilarious examples of narrow-mindedness. Apparently James Joyce's Dubliners was also banned after its publication in 1914.Out of 1000 books,999 were burned. This I have read from several sources but what really ails me to this day is what ever happened to that ONE book!!!

WendyWanderer rated 8 months ago- It's terribly annoying to me that there are people so offended by words that they can't be content to just not read those words themselves, they want to make sure nobody else does either.

BenitoTinto rated 9 months ago- What I find interesting about banned books isn't necessarily what they were banned for, but the mentality of those that find them so offensive. Closed minded and insisting they know what's best for everyone else. As for DaVinci's comments.......Is it really old news?....there are folks still insisting on banning these and other books. It's a contemporary problem. One that needs to be addressed. BTW, what are you reading?

starxgemini rated 9 months ago- Books that have been banned throughout the ages for one reason or another. From the page: "This site features books some people consider "dangerous." Learn what people find offensive about: * Fahrenheit 451 - expurgated copies used in class...a book on censorship got censored! * James and the Giant Peach - promotes drugs and disobedience! * Where's Waldo - nudity! * 1984 - "pro-communist"! * The Lorax - criminalizes the logging industry! * Zen Buddhism: Selected Writings - portrays Buddhism as appealing! * Slaughterhouse Five - foul language, "magic fingers," and mentions an almighty clothing fastener!"
