SchreiberBike rated 33 months ago- There are important issues here. Google appears to be censoring internet search results. There is a slippery slope which must be monitored very closely. This site appears to have a central role in that monitoring. There clearly are places where Google must tread carefully. For example, I can understand why it can not be a part of distribution of child pornography and in countries where certain kinds of hate speech are prohibited, perhaps those sites should not be listed on the local version of Google. But it's a very slippery slope. What about anti-government speech? Speech about revolution? How would these things work in China? Iran? USA?

From the page: "Do you know your online rights? Have you received a letter asking you to remove information from a Web site or to stop engaging in an activity? Are you concerned about liability for information that someone else posted to your online forum? If so, this site is for you.
Chilling Effects aims to help you understand the protections that the First Amendment and intellectual property laws give to your online activities. We are excited about the new opportunities the Internet offers individuals to express their views, parody politicians, celebrate their favorite movie stars, or criticize businesses. But we've noticed that not everyone feels the same way. Anecdotal evidence suggests that some individuals and corporations are using intellectual property and other laws to silence other online users. Chilling Effects encourages respect for intellectual property law, while frowning on its misuse to "chill" legitimate activity."

szoth rated 34 months ago- Yes, for now we have some measure of freedom on the Internet. Imagine your Internet service turning into a TV service, controlled completely by some wealthy monopolist. Support the EFF!

Archaelogists have discovered remnants of a previously unknown type of communication material thought to be used by humans in the late 20th century, early 21st century. The material was called paper and was made from mulching a biological plant's core with H2O and other ancient (toxic)chemicals. The remnants were found locked in a clearly labeled box that was encased in concrete and found below the sea floor in a new quadrant of archaelogical digging under the New North Sea. The box was labelled TIME CAPSULE North Side Public School 1999. This substance, paper, is thought to have provided humans with a means of communication before a brief period of electronic communication took over in the early 20th century. Prior to the deep freeze of 2100 and subsequent world flood, little is known about human communication. The United Global Alliance is particularly interested in this find since it arrives at a time when the Biannual Global Debates are to discuss the results of a Global Health League study that establishes a direct link between creativity and progress by examining the efficacy of the mandated telepathic brain implants on human productivity. If the debates establish the need to remove these implants, there will be a need to examine alternative methods of human to human communication. An alternative proposal under consideration is the development of a slightly modified telepathic brain implant that would allow controlled human-to-humans broadcasts only.
