- I was reading this thinking "What a hysterical idea for a parody news story..." and then... Of course the story doesn't discuss the fact negative numbers are a totally abstract creation, unlike counting numbers (low counting numbers have a concrete set of intuitive rules based on how the brain processes them -- with abstract numbers like fractions and negative numbers, we try to honor the extension of those intuitive ideas, but it is the definitions, which are actually totally arbitrary, that make a difference.) As long as the dear girl stays home and doesn't attempt to engage in commerce or social intercourse I don't think there is any reason to mock her. She is a perfectly functioning animal.
