The gov is just too short-sighted and ignorant to see this comin. I guess. No war is cheap, neither does it truly resolve the problems.

While I know there is a huge problem with financial accountability in the government. I think the difference between "60bn" and 600bn is mainly in the famous lack of foresight in the administration -- We were told that this war would be quick, that the Iraqi's would rise up and form their own government overnight. The 600bn price tag came after the "mission accomplished" speech.
