- Three things come immediately to mind; snake oil, placebo effect, and anecdotal evidence. (Just because both Mary AND Bob's headaches went away when they burned their hands on a stove doesn't mean that that's a cure for headache.) There seems to be big money in this but where's the scientific testing? If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck - well, you know the rest. "Hurry! Hurry! Step right up and buy our fine, new-age snake oil! Quack! Quack!"

- Okay, I know it souds REALLY far out and wacky, but it des work - not necesserily in a "abracadabra - poof, it's gone" way, but it really has good results. Try it - what the hell do you have to loose?
