Bijou242 rated 5 months ago- Craig Venter the famous geneticist, who is not afraid to go where no man has gone before.

watsjd rated 5 months ago- quite an amazing story. a famed geneticist believes he can engineer GM organisms to feed off CO2 and apparently create hydrocarbons. i want to see how this research progresses.

knowledgeself rated 5 months ago- could this be on the greatest inventions of our time?

DaveWingnut rated 5 months ago- Isn't this the back-story to 28 days later?

- Does anyone think about the outcome of tipping the balance in nature with this kind of thing? The cascaded affect can be dangerous in long run even though it may seems to provide immediate/short term benefits.

- This is a very dangerous idea. When, and I mean when not if, you will have organisms that produce a very toxic byproduct. While I hope that they will be at a selective disadvantage that is enough.

mrdanbrowne rated 5 months ago- From the page: "Simple organisms can be genetically re-engineered to produce vaccines or octane-based fuels as waste, according to Venter. "

MrMcQ rated 5 months ago- This is very vague...inserting "suicide genes", and genetically modifying CO2 organisms, namely HUMANS, sounds more like experimental cloning to me...this makes a me a little scared...
