From the page: "Quentin Crisp, English writer, actor and homosexual rights campaigner (1908-1999). "The absolute nothingness of death is a blessing. Something to look forward to." "When I told the people of Northern Ireland that I was an atheist, a woman in the audience stood up and said, "Yes, but is it the God of the Catholics or the God of the Protestants in whom you don't believe?'"" One way of looking at it, I suppose!

Albert Einstein, German born American threoretical physicist (1879-1955): "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." [From a letter Einstein wrote in English, dated 24 March 1954. It is included in Albert Einstein: The Human Side, edited by Helen Dukas and Banesh Hoffman, published by Princeton University Press. "A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."

Why do so many atheist sites assume that atheism means anti-religion? Buddhism is a religion and Buddhism is atheistic!

This differs from religious zealots gathering in that their mysticism INVADES MY LIFE ON A DAILY BASIS. It won't die. I fear in certain places, the shit's only getting worse. Until it's not dead, we shouldn't scour in a corner before the giant wall of religious hypocrisy in the world. I don't want people to stop believing what they believe. I just want them to keep everything from becoming (more) of a theocracy.

From the page: "A list of famous dead people who have rejected God and religion. These are people throughout history who have advocated living life without deference to a transcendent power. The list is in order of birth date."
