Great collection of music.

Many of the blogs are outdated, offline or are not related to music. There are some good exceptions, but little ones, and almost no talk about netlabels, mostly mainstream music.

I despise the concept of hype. Nobody should fucking care what everyone else thinks (except maybe people who have absolutely no individual taste of their own). If I wanted to know what's "hot" in indie circlejerk communities, I'd look at the top charts on Last.fm.

Just for the hell of it, I'm going to rant a bit about one of the currently featured posts. If you don't want to read comments unrelated to this website, you can stop reading now.

The little blurb from this article asks: "How can live electronica blow my mind so HARD ? How could the anti-heroes in Daft Punk turn club music into a full blown concert experience???"

The first question implies that 'live electronica' ("electronica" is a bullshit term, by the way) is rarely interesting. And why? Because it's probably just a bunch of guys jacking some knobs, right? Man, electronica is boring. I wish someone would make it a bit more like rock music. Oh, I know! I'll idolize the DJ and put him in a huge fucking flashy pyramid, and everyone will be looking at him. Two DJs for the price of one! Even better. And they're dressed as robots! No, this does not totally reinforce the idea that electronic music is made by and for robots. Why do normal people like this kind of repetitive soulless crap, then? Look at the pyramid. Look at it! Flashing lights and loud music are great, aren't they? Here, have some drugs, you'll enjoy it better. HA HA HA I FUCKED YOU OVER!! How, you ask? Why, the public image of electronic music and electronic music parties is now one of drug-addled brainless idiots, of course! Which happens to be true in too many cases, by the way.

The second question takes us back to the idea of making these experiences more like a mainstream rock concert. "How could the anti-heroes in Daft Punk turn club music into a full blown concert experience???" (More question marks indicate more surprise, you see. More disbelief.) How could they? Because that's what people like. That's what people pay for. They were already used to the rock concert experience. By analogy, some DJs and/or electronic music performers of other kinds (what other kinds are there lol?!?) have turned to imitating the idolization of the musician instead of the music. Blah blah blah blah blah but who cares about this shit?

What the hell did I just write?
