Not just a killer app. This is an annihilator. As soon as you have even one subliminal communication device, the whole market opens. Technologically mediated telepathy becomes inevitable.

I bet we can be seeing a lot of creative human interfaces with computers in the near future. Pretty soon it will become things like pressing buttons that slows down computing, not the actual computing speed. What is the point of making a computer able do stuff faster than you can tell it to do stuff?

it seems less like it reads minds and more like it reads nerves in the throat. Still very impressive, hopefully the tech will soon improve enough to be useful in everyday situations.

NASA's Chief Scientist for Neuroengineering - Chuck-Jorgensen demonstrating subvocal speach technology (Credit: NASA) This technology has been proposed in sci-fi for years. I love it! First mention I can think of was in Xenocide sequal to Ender's Game.
