This is a great video all about the deep darkness that the poor religious folks in Hardesty, Oklahoma have to deal with because their heads are inserted so far up their bums.

Christian bullies drive a girl out of school in small town Oklahoma. Although I stopped being a Christian when I was twelve I find some atheist arguments reductionist and strident. But I'm beginning to be annoyed: why should the religious get special treatment? Here in the UK - probably one of the most secular countries in the world, there are insidious moves to promote 'faith schools' (any major faith will do), and other social policies which privilege viewpoints however odious if they've got a religious tag attached. There was even talk a few years ago of introducing blasphemy laws. Blair was one of our most outspokenly religious politicians, and I think he got away with quite a few things, especially around Britain's role in the War on Terror as it was assumed that these views assured certain moral standards. We need to fight for a level playing field here.

Fuckers. If only hell was real? I'd love to say this doesn't happen in the UK but I know from experience that it does... but the faculty staff getting involved is a fucking disgrace.

Only gives me more reason to stand up for athiems. hell im at a catholic schoool (because its where my friends are), and i quite commonly debate religion with friends and teachers. Sometimes its quite disturbing what goes on in the brains of these people.

The poor little girl... Pity there isn't exactly a happy ending. And the part that is the most painful is that so much of this was based on things they thought were true about this girl that weren't true. And such ignorance! "Devil worshiper.." Bah.

This video is absolutely shocking to me... Would never happen in Scandinavia, I can assure the world of that.
It's a paradox how the religious (in this case Christians) see themselves as moral human beings... I think their confusion about how atheists can be moral people, comes from their own lack of being able to be good people without the threat of punishment from their god. And that's sad. Does it make you a bad person if you're forced by gun-point to act bad? No. And the same thing applies to goodness - you're not a good person, if you're only good because you're threatened into being good.
Maybe we (as in globally) should get ethics into the classrooms again - philosophy has an abundance of ethical doctrines based on reason and logic to offer the world that far exceed the religious ethics in general (universal) application...

Isolated incident, but scary nonetheless.

Video on discrimination against an atheist teenager. Not sure why the URL says ".../funny-2007/..." Personally, I didn't find this funny.
