Ubuntu was my first distro that I ever used in a professional environment to run a corporate setup so I definitely trust it. This is a cool way to try it out.

I am running this on this computer (using the Windows OS right now). It installed easily, works great with all the devices I've tried. Took a few minutes to figure out how to copy my Firefox profile over but otherwise almost everything works better than Windows. (Audible.com and Amazon Unbox aren't compatible though).

Point and click to install/uninstall Ubuntu from inside Windows. The only way it gets easier is if somebody else does it for you. From the page: "Wubi is Safe It does not require you to modify the partitions of your PC, or to use a different bootloader. Wubi is Simple Just run the installer, no need to burn a CD. Wubi is Discrete Wubi keeps most of the files in one folder, and If you do not like, you can simply uninstall it. Wubi is Free Wubi (like Ubuntu) is free as in beer and as in freedom. You will get this part later on, the important thing now is that it cost absolutely nothing, it is our gift to you..."

I think it might be good for finding "converts" but from what I've read, it doesn't seem to work with Vista.

This is good for those who want to try Ubuntu but for whatever reason have issues with the live CD. It allows for easy configuration and a more workable atmosphere than the live CD's so you can really get a feel for it. I still highly recommend just making the jump and ridding yourself of Windows entirely though -- It is the best way to learn Ubuntu quickly and make it stick. Give Ubuntu 1 month and you will be a Linux fan for life... Unless you only use your PC for playing the latest games... Then stay with Windows.

Want to see what Linux is about but don't feel like messing with your partitions? Wubi is right up your alley. It installs Ubuntu, a Linux distro that probably works with all parts of your PC the minute you install it. It installs and uninstalls from Windows, it sets it up in a virtual Linux filesystem occupying 4GB of one of your existing Windows drives. Try it!
