I usually don't care for graffiti art much, but I thought this was particularly clever. I'm not unrealistic enough to be a pacifist who thinks violence is never necessary, but when we in the US seem to be in a nearly perpetual state of war, it makes one think that militarism has become too ingrained into our society.
I liked this posted graph as well. (The blue in the graph measures the percentage of the population who believe in evolution) It is a national shame that the US is ranked down with Turkey in our populations belief in, and understanding of, the process of evolution. This is no doubt due to southern Evangelicals, who try as hard as they can to ignore the mountains of scientific evidence in support of evolution, including the same DNA science that can prove a rapist's guilt with 99.99999999% certainty. Not to mention the fact that you can see evolution occurring with your own eyes, such as in the case of scientists having to develop new flu vaccines every year because the virus changes so frequently, or in the case of many different documented lab experiments in which entirely new species can be seen evolving in front of the eyes of scientists. (It's called speciation if you'd like look it up)
And this one, well, let's just say it hits the nail right on the head. There are been a number of studies done where a group of sick people were prayed for by believers (and not told about it), and another control group of sick people was not prayed for; the results showed that the prognosis for the group that was prayed for was not any better.

- Politically sharp stumbler.
cryssie83 rated 15 months ago- From the page: Since 1990 Aung San Suu Kyi has been imprisoned for a total of 12 years. Her crime? Promoting democracy under a military dictatorship in Burma. She was awarded the Nobel Peace prize in 1991 for her bravery.
commerican rated 16 months ago- The atheist, global warming and anti-"free" trade stances are to be admired. Best of luck to this stumbler, as he seems to be finding his path through life in a very responsible way.
eta-carinae rated 15 months ago- Much of politics and a fellow atheist. Well worth the time.

AbsintheFiend rated 16 months ago- This guy has a good grasp of what's going on, and isn't about to just let it pass him by.
Poe76 rated 16 months ago- This is what is really going on. You need to read this blog because if you believe in the "American Dream" you are sadly mistaken.
