dumolebrad rated 4 months ago- From the page: " She adds, "Our website's purpose is to break the stereotype that people have that cops are all bad by having officers become responsible for their actions."" Who watches the watchmen? We do with the aid of the same technologies used by those who overreach their authority and common sense to spy on an innocent populace. Authoritarian power must be held to a higher scrutiny than the average professions and this site purports to do so. One crooked cop is more hazardous to a community than One Hundred petty criminals. I applaud the attempt to point attention at those who point the guns and tasers.

AvangionQ rated 4 months ago- From the page: "Police associations that represent more than 100,000 police and sheriffs in California are now seeking legislation to see if they can eliminate the site altogether. They say that officers who are rated face unfair maligning without any opportunity to defend themselves." ... [REPEAT POST] I have three things to say -- first, gotta love the Digg effect when a flood of new users crashes a server ... second, its sites like this are a wall against the police state that we may be forced to endure if recent fascist trends in our government continue unabated ... third, gotta love the first amendment and the free and open exchange of speech -- if any police officers are unfairly treated on this website, they should be notified and given the opportunity to present their own case in their own words, or to ignore the complaint ... [ADDENDUM] The RateMyCop site would be invaluable to locate patterns of hostile, criminal or unethical behavior by specific law enforcement personnel based on witness testimony ... any officer that is flagged for multiple offenses should be reviewed by Internal Affairs for specific complaints -- once this is done and the investigation is concluded, a detective from Internal Affairs could post a reply ... I see nothing wrong with this site, so long as it does not list confidential information, such as photographs of undercover officers ...

schmeanel rated 4 months ago- here's this story on this web site that rates cops - I felt the last times I had been pulled over it was pure harassment - you can't really defend yourself though - if you start arguing or debating with the cop it's like begging for a ticket.... From the page: "They say that officers who are rated face unfair maligning without any opportunity to defend themselves." damn - just a side note - the cbs13 site I got this story from had a video version on this story & immediately following it there was a video of a cop who fell asleep at the wheel & ran over 3 pedal bikers - killing 2 - I'm guessing he's going to get a poor rating on ratemycop.com - also I did notice that the site was down - clearly it's filling a need for the American people to speak out about their local cops - but apparently there is too much traffic
