Great article on how to get into running for the hardcore couch-potato. This is pretty much what I did (minus the 30-minute walks in the first few weeks). Great article on how to get into running for the hardcore couch-potato. This is pretty much what I did (minus the 30-minute walks in the first few weeks). The first day I got into running ~ 6 months ago, I probably barely hit 1.5 miles, and that was running with and stopping to walk and catch my breadth numerous times along the way. But after that - you kind of hit this exponential increase in how far you can go - it's really fun - literally the next day I ran, I did the same course without needing to stop fairly effortlessly - and just kept building it from there. You do plateau though (I did around 3-4 miles), after which you can still increase your distance, but the change is quite slower... Fun stuff though!
