This song was released in 2004 before the election on a compilation album for a progressive organization that I belonged to. The first time I listened to it I was blown away, thrilled to hear my precise thoughts given a voice. It also introduced me to the music of Conor Oberst (aka Bright Eyes).
I was really surprised at the Jay Leno audience reaction to this song, and also Jay's reception of it. When I found the video (via xsunshine's SU blog), I suspected Jay would keep his distance and that the audience might express disapproval, but that wasn't the case.
