Uncertain has been sanctioned by SU following a complaint by a SEO. The SEO's offsite blog provides a forum which contains discussion on how marketers can "fight back" against negative reviews on SU through multiple PMs, complaints to SU management, complaints to eBay and creation of alters etc. These phoney victims use abusive language and violate the SU terms of service themselves but get all upset and new-agey and who-would-have-thought over negative feedback.
This SEO came up with a new stunt. He claimed to have complained to the FBI that his life was in danger. I suspect this is a lie and the whole story was manufactured for the purpose of "driving traffic" to his site as stumblers went to investigate.
In an article entitled 'Use Stumbletrolls to Boost your Stats' another stumbler known to the SEO bragged on her own murky offsite blog of the extra traffic she'd got as a result of an SU thumbs down smorgasbord thus:
'This article will not show you how to get the magical thousands of hits from StumbleUpon. It will, however, show you an unusual way to improve your daily hits, pages per visit, time per visit and subscribers'............'Improving these statistics will increase the value of your ad space, raise your RealRank and increase the sale value of your blog.'
Don't the SEO's actions count as Spam?
Beyond comedy, should be one of the '10 commandments of common sense'. thou shalt not make false promises, to get you laid/ make you look younger/ make you live longer.....etc..... because it only leads to Prozac when you don't get it.
