judefa rated 6 hours ago- Well it could be Ya and me -- he being the older brother I never had. The one I'd love to have had. He's also a very friendly SU friend. And a no-bullshit free spirit.

akapearlofagirl rated 16 hours ago- I swear I must be half asleep to have missed YA till now. WOW! And your digs are exquisite! 'The rule of life' "If thou wouldst live unruffled by care, Let not the past torment thee e'er; As little as possible be thou annoy'd, And let the present be ever enjoy'd; Ne'er let thy breast with hate be supplied, And to God the future confide." ~ J.W.Goethe

MdnightStargazer rated 26 hours ago- Thank you, my friend , for your beautifully unique and inspiring pages. Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born. ~ Anaïs Nin

bonbonnie rated 7 days ago- . ya continues to edify and educate -- this is a subject for which I, too, feel deeply. Whatever complaints I have about our government, etc., I have to feel grateful each day that I was born here and not there. And then, the next question is, Why? "Save the girl child campaign" by SOCIAL GEOGRAPHIC Photo: Firoz Ahmad Firoz "Worst of all, violence against women and girls continues unabated in every continent, country and culture. It takes a devastating toll on women's lives, on their families and on society as a whole. Most societies prohibit such violence -- yet the reality is that, too often, it is covered up or tacitly condoned." (UN SECRETARY-GENERAL in International Women's Day 2007 Message.) According to one United Nations estimate, 113 to 200 million women are "demographically missing" from the world today. That is to say, there should be 113 to 200 million more women walking the earth, who aren't. By that same estimate, 1.5 to 3 million women and girls lose their lives every year because of gender-based neglect or gender-based violence and Sexual Violence in Conflict (Read more about UN Action against Sexual Violence in Conflict stoprapenow.org [stoprapenow.org] ). Millions of young women disappear in their native land every year. Many of them are found later being held against their will in other places and forced into prostitution. According to the UNICEF, Girls between 13 and 18 years of age constitute the largest group in the sex industry. It is estimated that around 500,000 girls below 18 are victims of trafficking each year. We can point a finger at poverty. But poverty alone does not result in these women's deaths and suffering; the blame also falls on the social system and attitudes of the societies. .

KahlilaGibran rated 8 days ago- I don't know if it's what Alfred had in mind, but I thought his poem went through the Babelizer quite well LIKE HASTE YOU CRIED IN THE GROUNDS OF VERLACHTER EARTH! YOU HASTE SMILED IN SKIES FULLY SLAUGHTERED SAND. NOW YOUR FACE DIES NEVERTHELESS INSIDE INTO THE HERRLICHSTEN DAY, INTO the REASSURING river, THAT WHITE. IT IS THAT, REAL WHICH YOU WANTED. And I must just make mention here that he is one of SU's treasures for me. Has to be practically a daily visit, and although I usually get a chuckle or at least a big smile out of it, he can floor his readers with substance and deep thought as well. His knowledge of rock music and its offshoots is extraordinary, and he loves to share his enthusiasms. That combo he has of knowledge, opinion, life's experience and a free spirit make him just what he is. YA! Definitely!

JIR rated 8 days ago- After all the jacks are in their boxes And the clowns have all gone to bed You can hear happiness staggering on down the street Footsteps dressed in red And the wind whispers mary A broom is drearily sweeping Up the broken pieces of yesterdays life Somewhere a queen is weeping Somewhere a king has no wife And the wind, it cries mary The traffic lights, they turn, uh, blue tomorrow And shine their emptiness down on my bed The tiny island sags down stream cause the life that lived is, Is dead And the wind screams mary Uh-will the wind ever remember The names it has blow in the past? And with this crutch, its old age, and its wisdom It whispers no, this will be the last And the wind cries mary. Thanks Ya http://ya.stumbleupon.com/. The song can be heard here.
