Nerd Sniping! UPDATE: Holy cow! It works! I snagged my first nerd in less than an hour after posting the Nerd Sniper cartoon! superticker2 writes: "I like your nerd-comic cartoon (for today, 12/16/2007). That's an interesting question, 'What's the resistance... more

Had to go through Ohm's law, kirchoff's rule, etc... to pass a computer repair course. Funny stuff.

Heh heh, mathematicians are worth the most points in nerd sniping. Bloody me, I got sniped here too; the best I could come up with was a hazily defined infinite summation of combinatorial (non-overlapping edge walk) expressions of KVL. (Cue Dr. Gumby: "My brain hurts!") PS: This "infinite resistor grid" problem has been already solved and generalized by D. Atkinson and F. J. van Steenwijk. (But not so elegantly err intuitively, eh?)

An infinite set of resistors connected in parallel would have zero resistance, but there is no denying the fact that the current must pass through the eight resistors directly connected to the two nodes in question...which would seem to impose some resistance. Hmmm... I got sniped by this, and lack of necessary knowledge precludes even the consolation of solving the problem. :(
