They're forgetting the AA12. Nothing beats an aa12 with an automic 75 rounds for killing zombies.

..I am beyond sick of zombie jokes. ..seriously. a meme of the undead has only one way to go: back to being dead.

I agree 100%. That is one of the arguments I used to talk my girlfriend into letting me get my M4.

wow, you have to love those who are prepared for the zombie apocalypse, and their choice of weapons

when it comes down to killing zombies, shotgun for the win. when it comes down to surviving a zombie apocalypse, shotgun for the loss. no way to install any kind of silencer, ammo is bulky, weapon itself is bulky and in some cases heavy, and the power is just too much for what you really need in a zombie situation. why not just rely on a 9mm or a glock? you just need to pierce the skull, not blow a hole in their chest.

The preferred rifle of the intelligent Zombie killer. Shotguns are just so... yesterday.

This was quite a thought provoking article. Definately a good place to start debate on the subject. My personal preference would probably be a couple Glock 19 pistols with extended magazines and a laser sight to keep ammo waste down and make every shot count. (One in hand, one as backup.) I'd rarely use it in full auto but having that ability might come in handy in large groups swarming close. Of course you have to have a hand weapon as well, just in case the ammo runs out. That's just my opinion, think it through for yourself.

This is blasphemy, and whoever wrote this should be tarred, feathered, and hung by his testicles. The truth is there is no perfect weapon for a zombie attack, and there will be situations where one type of firearm will be better than another (and I can think of many more situations in which I would prefer a shotgun over an m4.) Also, the author does not even consider the training of the person wielding the firearm. The majority of survivors of an outbreak will more than likely be civilians with minimal marksmanship training, making the shotgun the preferred firearm of choice. Shotguns also have the added bonus of stopping power; say you whiff a shot and accidently blow a zombie's torso into bits instead of its head, even if it is still alive, it probably won't be moving as fast as it was before (or at all). This is especially important should you find yourself surrounded by multiple zombies in close range. A rifle would require well-placed head shots to be effective at all, especially an m4. Additionally, the m4 can jam and double feed, problems you wouldn't encounter with a shotgun. I just wish people wouldn't jump to conclusions, especially when it comes to such an important issue.
