Very well thought out alternative energy system integrates several alternative energy systems: solar electric with deep cycle lead acid and hydrogen fuel cells for example. Yes, it's a very expensive system and there is plenty of room for improvement. Show me something better. IIRC, from... more

Fascinating! This guy has built a green house that is totally off the grid and off the charts for efficiency. Thumbs up!

good concept, but totally impractical for most - so basically useless to everyone but the extremely rich. My brother built a cabin, has a couple solar panels, no connection to the grid - but no big screen TV - and my bro ain't a lard-ass either, not the consummate consumer pretending to be ecologically friendly to get free power and grants from corporations...

video see a very large array of solar voltaic cells feeding at 500 volts DC to regulators, battery bank, invertors. Then, the fuel cell to turn excess electical power into hydrogen. Then standard propane tank farm, then another fuel cell (UL certified) for generating electricity. Sounding expensive. Yes. Inside the house, a heat pump system with a lot of copper pipe under the front yard. Well insulated house. Worth a look. Not everyday people stuff, but good to see the spectrum.

This guy is living my dream... unfortunately... the amount of $ it takes to create a home like this as well as the amount of red tape (building permits, govt. disapprovals) etc make it IMPOSSIBLE to do in reality on a "regular" family income. I give MAJOR kudos to this guy... I just hope his example can lead to getting the price down so it can become main stream.
