Read the sparknotes, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. It's the basis for the plot. Then watch the director's cut. Well worth an evening. Robert Duvall: "I love the smell of napalm in the morning.... ..that smell, you know that gasoline smell... ..Smells like, victory. " Duvall laments, "Someday this war is going to end." Curses! How will he be able to secure his own stretch of beach with 6 FOOT BREAKS then!?
