Shitao discovered 3 months ago- Cassady and Kerouac in Denver, mid-50's. Kerouac reading a passage from "On the Road" on the old 'Steve Allen Show' For All Ah to be alive on a mid-September morn fording a stream barefoot, pants rolled up, holding boots, pack on, sunshine, ice in the shallows, northern rockies. Rustle and shimmer of icy creek waters stones turn underfoot, small and hard as toes cold nose dripping singing inside creek music, heart music, smell of sun on gravel. I pledge allegiance I pledge allegiance to the soil of Turtle Island, and to the beings who thereon dwell one ecosystem in diversity under the sun With joyful interpenetration for all. --Gary Snyder

JGarrison rated 4 months ago- Kerouac actually wrote about this in "Big Sur"...ironically i just read the passage where he refers to it...

Colvard rated 4 months ago- No words from me. Just... dig it.

beocio rated 5 months ago- Kerouac reading the last pages of "On the Road". Damn, this guy is one of the greatest. The Dharma Bum. I love this book, I can't read it without moving to the sound of the jazz, you have to read it out loud, and go hey! and Yeah! and be alive, as much as you can. Try reading it, drinking happily with friends, and imagine the voices shouting to the band at the bar, and the sounds of the saxofone going I-ha, I-ha, Ih-dih-liyah!
