ellipsis42 discovered 26 months ago- This is perhaps the most infuriating thing I have ever seen. Here's proper report. Is anything being done about this mass murder? No! Instead, the FDA helped let is slide, and the government looked the other way. Write letters to your representative! Demand Indictment, or at least Federal investigation!

The fact that there's people out there willing to kill others just for the sake of profit, and the fact that many of those others are children, is so vile that I can't even put my disgust into words that would fully convey it. Boycott Bayer. FOR LIFE.

liquidiridium rated 4 months ago- Guess I should watch TV more. This is beyond disgusting.

flyinglungfish rated 8 months ago- "Bayer division Cutter Biological continued selling old stocks of the medicine for more than a year after it introduced a version in February 1984 that was heat-treated to kill HIV, according to documents obtained by the Times. " (cbsnews.com) They knew they had a harmfull product and did not hesitate to make millions by selling it outside the U.S. Farthing wrote that members of the society wonder why "high-risk groups like prisoners were not excluded from donating blood." With reference to Arkansas, he wrote, "The state officials should not have approved such practices, and our government certainly should not have licenced the import of products made from prison blood." Since the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had banned prison blood from being sold in the U.S. as early as 1984, Farthing said he wondered, "why blood and blood products not thought fit for U.S. consumption was allowed to be exported rather than destroyed." (srktimes.com) Disaster capitalism. A few people turn there heads, maybe ignoring a bad feeling in their stomach as they pocket some cash, or simply hoping that only a couple dozen would fall ill, and HIV is spread to thousands of hemophiliacs around the world. Our best interest is not what makes money.

Phos rated 25 months ago- Well, along with finally ending the prison-blood-cow business - a lot of things changed. They knew there were problems with that as well, and that didn't change for 12 years (Red Cross & many other shame on you.). In this case, Bayer had absolute knowledge that the majority of the product was tainted as the number of donors you needed to make the clotting factor pretty much guaranteed it, and their own testing confirmed their estimates.

jerk99 rated 25 months ago- Just in case you were correcting in simply assuming that AIDS wasn't discovered in 1983, as it really was (http://www.pasteur.fr/actu/presse/dossiers/VIH_E/Discovery.html), and forgetting that Bayer started this blood-pool to grab strange proteins in 1984 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS3mhjt7TrY), why were they taking blood from Federal prisoners, which was only recently legalized in 1995 (http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/ANSWERS/ANS00661.html)? It was illegal for a reason, and it is a reason that so few states in the US choose to enforce the law - because using blood from prisoners is a fucking insane idea. There's a reason why pharmaceutical companies that had agreements to distribute the drugs in their own native countries were all found guilty to a panel of their peers, in countries like Austraila, Japan, and Canada (where I hail from). They were immoral bastards (that even I, a pretty cynical and amoral fellow recognize as corrupt), and they needed to go down. But, just not in the States. Because... they're FUCKING BAYER! Hands in pockets everywhere, giving corporate blowjobs aplenty. I know it's hard to believe this, but not everyone in this world operates at the same civilized manner that you and I do. Just imagine sometimes that this is true, if only that.

- How does hiv get in an entire product line? Does bayer have the answer? Is this truth or was it a publicity stunt?
