- I purchased this 45 when I was 12 years old in Ireland. This is one of my first (ever) music purchases and the song had not been released in North America yet. I still have it. I had never seen this video until tonight (I stopped watching TV @1981). The living room in the video looks like all of my irish relative's houses. No, really :)FTP:This song is about Brenda Spencer, a 16-year-old San Diego high school student who lived across from an elementary school. On Monday, January 29, 1979, she opened fire on the school with a rifle, killing 2 adults (including the principal) and injuring 9 kids before going back to her home. Police surrounded her home and waited for 7 hours until she gave herself up. In that time, she spoke with a reporter on the phone. When asked why she did it, she replied, "I just started shooting, that's it. I just did it for the fun of it. I just don't like Mondays. I just did it because it's a way to cheer the day up. Nobody likes Mondays."

- I saw this video on HBO's Video Jukebox in 1980, and now that I have since seen Pink Floyd's The Wall, I notice quite a few cinemagraphic similarities. Great audio quality for U-Tube! Thank you moderntimes for the history... I couldn't remember the girl's name!

- Brenda Ann Spencer (April 3, 1962) is a convicted American murderer who carried out a shooting spree at Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California on January 29, 1979. Principal Burton Wragg and head custodian Mike Suchar were killed in the attack, while eight children and a police officer sustained wounds. One of the children she shot was only hit in the hand and survived. She talked about the incident on the The Mikey Show, a local radio station to San Diego County.
The school was across the street from Spencer's house. She used a rifle that she had recently been given for Christmas by her father. When the six-hour incident ended and she was asked whom she wanted to shoot, she said, "I like red and blue jackets". When asked why, she shrugged and replied, "I don't like Mondays."
