YouTube - Effects of crack programs and keygens on your PC

JR2 rated 16 months ago
Only get cracks / keygens if you know what you are playing with. If you do, great. If not, hmm. Use a test computer until you do... Try using MS Virtual PC. Also, you can run Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus after you play with such software. Try FRISK Software (http://www.f-prot.com), Grisoft AVG...

If you open any program, you will get similar results to what this douchebag is showing you, it is true that cracks and keygens are a good way for virus to get in your system. but any program in windows does similar things when you run it. try the same filter and open up any stand-alone program, you will still get similar results.

FUD, trying to raise fear, uncertainty and doubt among the newbies ... I agree with "Inferno-X"; also keygens and cracks usually work and are FREE of MALWARE! Every cracking/keygenning group has a reputation to keep, if any of the popular groups tried anything like this they 'd be gone in no time; some of those websites offering cracks/serials/keygens however do indeed try to infect your pc with spyware (using scripts n trying to exploit several vulnerabilities in your browser; also some people on Emule 'n co try to infect u through fake keygens); Its not that hard to decide what file is a quality release and whats probably fake though; also u should have an up-to-date antivirus and some antispyware program (if u really have to download cracks/keygens from those sites ;)

FUD, not all cracks & keygens are malicious and not working. You should always test it out before using it (like he does in the video but on a disposable test platform like VMware) and why is he using IE to visit shady sites? I don't see an anti-virus, anti-spyware nor a firewall either to stop outbound activity.

Also, you can run Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus after you play with such software. Try FRISK Software (http://www.f-prot.com), Grisoft AVG (http://free.grisoft.com), ClamWin AV (http://www.clamwin.com), or Kaspersky Labs (http://www.kaspersky.com). I'd steer clear of Norton AV or McAffee AV.. they bloat your system beyond all reason, and don't work as well as some of the ones I've mentioned. For Anti-Spyware, use Lavasoft Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php) and Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org)

depends on: 1. Who releases it and 2. Where you get it from. Only use cracks/keygens others used first, or from the cracker team that you trust.

FUD, use firefox, an antivirus like avg and a program like process explorer from sysinternals for looking if are lunched other processes with the keygen/crack and you have no worries

You get cracks like THAT, yeah, you're going to get some nasty stuff. Not proof that 'all' keygens are spyware/malware. Just alarmist trife.

Gotta love when uninformed idiots pretend to know what they're talking about. Yes, a virus can be embedded in a fake keygen. No, that isn't proof that all keygens are malicious.
