[REPEAT POST] "No one should ever be disqualified for their religion. Even the funny ones. Like all of them." - Bill Maher ... so what separates a cult from a religion? Number of practitioners? Duration of existence? Primary Purpose? Doesn't seem that the verifiable truth of its scripture, or the demonstrable falsehoods or cultural inequalities of its scripture, are ever considered as validating or invalidating distinctions ... [ADDENDUM 1] Personally, I think religion is a state of mass delusion and an evil we can do without who's primary purpose is a tool of the Oligarchy to segregate people by ideological beliefs and who's secondary purpose is to violently defend any contradiction or opposition to those beliefs despite claims to be peaceful and/or beneficial. I look forward to when all religions are slowly phased out of human consciousness by the expansion of knowledge ... [ADDENDUM 2] I see no taboo in the open discussion of religion -- that religion is considered sacred and beyond the reproach of logical discourse is a state given to itself by religion as a desperate reprieve against the expansion of knowledge and man's inquisitive nature tearing apart the internal inconsistencies and scientifically disprovable falsehoods that all religions seem to share. [ADDENDUM 3] Gotta love the first amendment -- freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of peaceful assembly, freedom of religion ... even though I wish it said freedom *from* religion, but that's ok -- let the people learn from the mutual free exchange of information and ideas, and nothing gets rid of religion faster than a free and open peaceful exchange of ideas ... [ADDENDUM 4] I'm looking forward to Religulous in two months -- will make sure to go watch it at the theaters ...

It's weird, yet cool that Larry King is always having Bill Maher on to talk about controversial stuff. You have to wonder what King's audience thinks of it. They're used to softball confessionals and heartwarming interviews...then Bill comes on like, "I spit on your most cherished beliefs!" I guess it wakes them up at the old age home.
