flyingrose rated 18 months ago- I highly recommend that anyone with even one silver filling in their mouth watch this video. As it turns out, new studies have even official sources recommending the use of no more than ONE mercury filling ever be used in a child.
This video points out that the rate of mercury exposure in the environment that affects no one is ZERO!
I have SEVEN mercury fillings that were placed in my teeth when I was about ten years old. Although I did not connect it until recently, that dental work was immediately followed by horrendous toothaches, headaches, and earaches. I clearly remember holding washcloths in front of the wall space heater, warming them to put on my face to relieve the pain.
I was already the smallest in my class throughout school, most likely because both of my parents had very high mercury exposure. My Mother was 4'10" and weighed only 85 pounds. She had large numbers of fillings and lost all of her teeth in her thirties. There is evidence that mercury fillings cause gum problems and tooth loss. She also smoked heavily and other entries in my blog here indicate that smoking reduces the ability of the body to eliminate mercury.
My Father not only had extensive dental work and lost most of his teeth by his forties, he also worked with Mercury and - not knowing not to - actually PLAYED with the stuff. Mercury and exposure to radiation from dental xrays have been shown to increase the risk of low birth weight babies. (I was just over five pounds at birth - under five pounds is considered low birth weight.)
Obviously, the effect of any toxic substance is increased as size and weight are decreased. This explains why my already deceased (at 67, younger than almost all of her siblings) Mother's health was so much more seriously affected than my Father's (he is over 6 ft and 200 pounds). It also explains why the symptoms are more obvious in smaller people like myself (under 5'3" and 125 pounds) and those who are exposed to other toxins either environmentally or by choice (smoking, etc.).
The other factor is the length of time the exposure continues because these are cumulative toxins. We have a great ability to heal and detoxify until our ability to eliminate toxins exceeds that capacity. This is what causes health to deteriorate with age.
Taking specific actions to remove these accumulated toxins can restore health and allow our bodies to heal.

Blissness rated 15 months ago- I have been searching for information on mercury for years. This video is quite informative.

Yep, sensationalists headlines are always the jive (..) still it is apparently a completely known fact that mercury causes braincells to stop growing in minute amounts (not even aluminum have this effect). Moreover even an amalgam producer (Caulk Co.) state that mercury fillings should NOT be used:
*in people with kidney problems
*at the end root of a tooth
*under a crown
*in children 6 and under
*in expectant mother
Now a final question remains, should mercury be in your mouth or in that of anyone else you hold dear?
Update: Please see read here for a bibliography on the topic of amalgam fillings
