I've seen junior college productions that resulted in a better reproduction of Sondheim's masterpiece. Burton didn't get it at all. Then he hired his wife and Johnny Depp, neither of whom can sing and stripped the story of all of its irony, satire and dark comedy. In other words, they sucked the life right out of it. They should all three be ashamed. And you, Mr. Sondheim---- while I would so dearly love to see visually recorded versions of Pacific Overtures and Assassins, please don't ever let Tim Burton within 10 miles of another of your shows.
