Being a Canadian and living some of my childhood in the U.S., I too pledged allegance to the flag of that country south of here. Red Skelton says it better than anyone. His pledge is from a less corrupt time from a country who's politics I once respected. I hope that America can regain that lost respect that they had in a less complicated world.

I listened to this sincere recitation by Red Skelton and hope you may too before reading the rest of this post. I recall that he always ended his shows with "May God Bless" because he felt we should be asking - not telling. He obviously loved God very much. Then I ask you to consider a few points. Do not all humans everywhere deserve the same respect and freedom that we would claim for ourselves? And for those who believe that we should not worship false Gods, have you ever considered what else might be considered worship or false? Humans worship many things and look at the life they have wrought. Many worship the rich, the famous - even the infamous. Putting money first has created our consumer-driven world. Worshiping flags, countries, and religions has brought us war after war and focuses our energies and resources that could provide abundance for all on destruction instead. Are these things not "false Gods"? Do not all people everywhere desire and deserve the same as we would wish for ourselves? Have you ever truly understood the lyrics to John Lennon's song Imagine? "Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today... Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace... You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world... You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one

Good ol Red Skelton, guys notice where he said that school was from? huh huh??? -cough cough points to my username cough cough- I'm not sure why we worship this guy so much here, we have SOOO many things dedicated to him, and yet William Henry Harrison only got a statue, and red skeltons is bigger than his..... So YEA Pledge Allegiance to the flag, the only country where when A comedian and a President hail from the same home town, the comedian gets more dedications and memorials.
