 Darque rated 20 months ago- I'm of that age - all my friends are having kids, and I have one too, all within about a year's time. (Me, I think it was something in the water.) So, of course, they're all stocking up on videos to entertain their kids - these incomprehensible shows with names like "Doodlebops" and "Backyardigans," and they are all invariably the same thing: brightly-colored costumes, simple songs, and smiling people that look like they needed fourteen cups of coffee and three hits of acid just to embarrass themselves in front of a camera like that.Enter, The Muppets.Back when I was a kid, this was a staple of entertainment for me. The Swedish Chef, Fozzie, Gonzo, and of course, that pork-loving Kermit. Now, as an adult, my appreciation for these things has grown. This wasn't just sugar-coated kiddie fare; The Muppets had real, entertaining material, with fresh new guest stars every week, layer after layer of hidden humor, and plenty for both kids and adults to laugh at. Now I know why my parents took an interest in watching TV with me - because they thought it was funny as hell, too. And it still is. (And my daughter will be doing just fine with Muppets instead of anyone from "Higglytown," thank you.)

There's been a lot of talk in the U.S. news about who should be Obama's running mate. I hope it's Chris Dodd, just so we can have this as the campaign's theme song:
