I love this. The best part of it is that he states how scary it is that our country and world are ruled by people who are basically very superstitious. He puts it in much nicer terms, but he's right. Thanks to Delta Dreamer for the link.

The message Sam Harris endeavours to convey - passionately, yet rationally, is very refreshing, and he makes many valid points. I loved his presentation; his arguments, especially about religious moderation, are well worth consideration.
CastorQuinn rated 26 months ago- Well there's something to consider. I'd always considered religious moderation quite a good idea - let people believe what they like, so long as they're not doing any harm. But this is quite an interesting argument against religious moderation, and in favour of using teh weight of reason to crush religious belief, or at least challenge it - or, more importantly, to bring criticism of and challenges against religious belief out from the taboo of political correctness, so that atheists can openly criticise such beliefs in the public forum. The justification for this and the possible benefits - or the possible harms of moderation - are argued here. Not the best speaker in the world, but he gets the point across. I think I will read more on this.
uknugget rated 23 months ago- Video of Sam Harris at Idea City 05.... The intro says it very well:
"In a progressively more secular world, it sometimes seems to me that the only religious people out there are fanatics. And frankly I'm fed up with them. You look into any cruel, over-the-top wanton atrocity in the world today and chances are that you'll find some scripture spouting nutbar. Judging, condemning, and punishing and happily killing the innocent whilst cloaked in the garb of faith. They preach love but they practice exclusion and they display a toxic intolerance to different views..."
ShoGizzle rated 22 months ago- Absolutely brilliant. Religion has caused more harm than good since it's inception. It's only after more people realize that religion should not be a cog on the wheel that drives our societies, will we truely find peace among peoples.
