TMPST discovered 20 months ago- The reactable, is a multi-user electronic music instrument with a tabletop tangible user interface. Several simultaneous performers share complete control over the instrument by moving physical objects on a luminous table surface. By moving and relating these objects, representing components of a classic modular synthesizer, users can create complex and dynamic sonic topologies, with generators, filters and modulators, in a kind of tangible modular synthesizer or graspable flow-controlled programming language. This instrument is being developed by a team of digital luthiers (Sergi Jordà, Martin Kaltenbrunner, Günter Geiger and Marcos Alonso), at the Music Technology Group within the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain. stickypearls rated 10 months ago- OH EM GEE. That is amazing. I want it.

CloudsSansWater rated 12 months ago- Multitouch interfaces hadn't really excited me until I saw this. Now I get it.

iamnotsatan rated 12 months ago- Oh my God this is beautiful. A Minority Report-ish interface for creating music. I can only hope that by the time this thing is perfected I'm not too old to shake my booty to the beats. Stolen from Veenatron.

reverendlazi rated 13 months ago- Absolute genius, i had to watch this video a few times before i could believe it wasn't made up. I've seen that someone is using one live with Bjork at the moment, it makes it look even more impressive seeing it used in a show.

Lokito rated 13 months ago- This video doesn't give a good sense of how well it works for producing music, but the reactable looks like it has potential.
