I don't watch TV...except for the months when So You Think You Can Dance airs. My brother was a dancer in NYC, so I've always had a deep appreciation for the skill and charisma it takes to be successful.
And gents, it's not just a show we ladies can enjoy. Much to his surprise, my love got *really* into the show. Likewise, my best friend (who is a dance instructor) was quite shocked when her rather uber-masculine boyfriend got hooked. He gets upset if she watches it without him. When we've gone to visit, he's shocked us all with statements like, "I think so-and-so's form was lacking," or "The performance was mediocre; something was just missing between them." The trend stretched even further, with my sister's husband, my niece's boyfriend, and the list could go on!
One warning...we all want to strangle Mary for her general obnoxiousness. It's too bad you can't selectivly shut off the sound for and subtitle one person on a show.
One of the most interesting aspects of the show, is the transformation of dancers who have limited or no experience in other forms, succeeding in unexpected ways.
