- Nope. I'm not a fan of "top" lists. Just have been to Maui - overbuilt, overcrowded, overstressed and so I wonder how it made this list. My conclusion is that there is nothing authentic about Maui, but then my tastes are simpler and I appreciate the natural world. Dive around Maui and one is struck by entire niches of the underwater ecosystem that are missing and obviously overfished or treated badly. My favorite island? That's personal, but you divers out there may know the meaning of PBD.
