I wonder how many people on this council call themselves Christians? From the page: "LAS VEGAS -- A battle is brewing over a new Las Vegas ordinance that bans providing food or meals to the indigent at city parks. The Las Vegas City Council unanimously passed a law, which went into... more

I am constantly amazed at the inhumanity being expressed in ever greater detail throughout the US. If I didn't know others that feel the same way I would get depressed.

It is personal property that differentiates people from animals. Obviously misguided hippies shouldn't feed these abnominations.

Vegas doesn't want the rich tourists to be distracted while they give their money away to the casinos.

Jesus fucking christ. The mayor claims to be able to magically identify homeless people on sight."Certain truths are self-evident," [mayor Oscar] Goodman said. "You know who's homeless."

Notice how the homeless are equated with animals. "If you feed them they'll just keep coming back", or "If you feed them, they'll never learn to fend for themselves". We're talking about people, not stray cats. As if the homeless, every single undomiciled person, is %100 responsible for their plight. As if this has nothing to do with economics, broken socials structures, racism, and a fucked up mental health system whose hands are tied because of the limitations set by HMOs. The way we treat our downtrodden is a clear indication of how evolved are are, or are not as a society. /puts soap box away

Good for them. These stupid publicity stunts do nothing but make life miserable for good people. Homeless people already have more food than they can eat, which is why they are so damned fat. Between food stamps, food banks, and church cafeterias, this is wholly unnecessary. Parks aren't just a dumping ground for drunks and drug addicts, they should be for honest people too. I was homeless for nine months once - I'll never feel a drop of pity for those scum again.

wow, I'm constantly amazed by how much I'm a better Christian than people who believe Jesus died for their sins. If only Jesus knew about your sins, he totally wouldn't have died for them. And duh, yes, everyone recognizes the stipulation that this only applies to parks, but since that's one of the few places where the homeless can be without being harassed by police, it's tantamount to a law being passed that no one can be served food outside a nuclear power plant unless it's hand-picked from a garbage can.

outrageous. no, I did not miss that it's only "in city parks." It's still outrageous.
