Ads from a different time sometimes provide us with an unique perspective of the psychology and mythology of that time. The slogan for the Picturephone is "Someday you'll be a star!", only because it resembles a TV in its shape. To modern viewers the connection would be tenuous... more

I have to agree that this definitely provides us with an unique perspective of the psychology of that time.

I like the ad with the two kids heads who appear to be floating. I guess that line is supposed to be a door.

I get very disappointed to see every single one of these portraying women in the kitchen.

The copy in all these ads seems so amusing, because the concept of brand loyalty seems an antiquated idea. My children and their friends respond to the most highly stylized ads, regardless of the content or method of delivery. In a perfect world, I would be the owner of a working Kelvinator. . Subzero doesn't advertise that their sleek stainless panels aren't magnetic. What's the point of having a fridge that doesn't take magnets and won't hold several cases of beer? Then there's the fingerprint problem. Talk about truth in advertising! My father refuses to part w/ the Kelvinator, though it's in the basement. I think he makes weekly trips to the basement to converse w/ the Kelvinator about the good old days (or he's hiding a dead body in there).
