TechCrunch : WikiSeek (not to be confused with Wikiasari) is a search engine that has indexed only Wikipedia sites, plus sites that are linked to from Wikipedia. It serves two purposes. First, it is a much better Wikipedia search engine than the one on Wikipedia -- and has been built with Wikipedia's assistance and permission. Second, the fact that it also indexes sites that are linked to from Wikipedia means that, presumably, it will return only very high quality results and very little spam. It won't show every relevant result to a query, but it will certainly give a good overview of a subject without all the mess.

Geonemotodium rated 4 months ago- This only searches Wikipedia in English - just a fraction of the project. Way too restricting.

starkiss319 rated 5 months ago- The contents of Wikiseek are restricted to Wikipedia pages and only those sites which are referenced within Wikipedia, making it an authoritative source of information less subject to spam and SEO schemes.

Konimotsinui rated 13 months ago- I love your AJAX. It's sexy.

nlang rated 17 months ago- A better way to search Wikipedia. I like how the sites, that are linked to from Wikipedia, are listed in the search results. However, I wouldn't see this as a rival to search engines like Google. The Wikiseek results are restricted, so I'd use this only to find Wikipedia articles or websites that are recommended at Wikipedia. For more comprehensive results, I'd use Google.

tommyhaych rated 17 months ago- Thats an awesome idea. I'm always befuddled by that horrible search engine on the wikipedia site.

rationale rated 18 months ago- This seems to be a better way to search wikipedia. I don't know how much it offers that wikipedia doesn't search-wise, although one neat feature is the fact that it gives you suggestions as you search/after you search.

pascalvanhecke rated 18 months ago- "The contents of Wikiseek are restricted to Wikipedia pages and only those sites which are referenced within Wikipedia, making it an authoritative source of information less subject to spam and SEO schemes." (as if Wikipedia is not subject to spam...)

Techsavvy007 rated 18 months ago- One more website to participate in search engine war.... yahoo and Google ..........be careful.... wikiseek also looks like a promising competitor
