For most of these, it's an understandable change from an old to new look. You can get a good insight into this 'simple' look that has been dominating brand identities since the late nineties. It's actually getting pretty old and bland. I think 20 years from now we'll be thinking 'what were we thinking?'. For example, look at Best Buys awful new logo. Blech. Makes you devoid of any emotion.
