Content Management System, or CMS is an application used to manage news easily so that users can publish, edit and delete articles from the back-end admin system. HTML and other scripting language are not necessary to operate a CMS, though having them will add more advantages.

Good collection of most popular PHP web content management systems. Most popular are Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla, but there are some good challengers like Silverstripe.

Thumbed down because the article doesn't go into enough detail about each one - each piece of descriptive text is virtually identical, so there's no real way to tell them apart from the article. What we really have is just a list of "here, these are what's available" along with oversized screenshots of their home pages. I disagree that Wordpress should be above Drupal, since WP isn't even really a CMS. Also, Joomla/Mambo should pretty much share an entry since Joomla is basically Mambo + bells and whistles. Their shared entry should also be somewhere down the bottom of the list hehe. I had the misfortune of working with a Joomla site once and urgh.
