    If you Google one of the phrases on this page (e/g/: "Can you show me a mock-up to help us choose a designer/developer? No.") you'll find that this list of 10 tips pops up dozens of times on different web pages, without any acknowledgement of any author. Dear posters (or page creators): only one of you can be the author. The rest of you are plagiarists. As a university teacher, I have wondered at the insouciant ease with which students will steal other people's words and claim them as their own. This seems to be part of this phenomenon. The world is changing!

    The advice is timeless and applies to just about any sort of freelance consulting/design/development work. If you do nothing else other than not work for free, you'll be ahead of the game.

    No is the best word for a freelancer. Without the understood big company structure and rigid contractual rules, sometimes clients view you as malleable and you'll bend to their silly, greedy, or uneducated ideas. Say no!
